Which country code does Form DIR-3 KYC use?
Form DIR-3 KYC uses the two-letter country code in ISO 3166-1. India is IN. The form does not ask for the telephone dialling code in that field.
Which code is entered?
The code is two letters. It is the code of the country the particular field names, such as the country of citizenship or the country of residence. A few codes that come up on an Indian company’s form are these.
| Country | Code |
|---|---|
| India | IN |
| United Arab Emirates | AE |
| Singapore | SG |
| United Kingdom | GB |
| United States | US |
Any other country is entered with the alpha-2 code the standard gives it. An older copied list that still shows a territory the standard has withdrawn is not the source. The standard is.
What does a person in India enter?
A person resident in India, and a citizen of India, enters IN in the field that asks for that country. The letters are uppercase. Writing “India”, or writing 91, does not fill the code field.
When is the form filed?
A person who holds a director identification number on 31 March files Form DIR-3 KYC Web by 30 June of every third consecutive financial year. A change of personal mobile number, email address, or residential address is filed in the same form within 30 days. The annual filing by 30 September is the rule that amendment replaced. The cycle, the certification, and the additional government fee for a missed intimation are on the DIR-3 KYC page.
What is not the country code?
The code is not the PIN code of the address, and it is not the first digits of the mobile number. A change of residential address, including a change of the country of residence, is a change that the KYC page requires within 30 days. The country code is only the identifier of that country.
Frequently asked questions
Four questions cover +91, a non-resident, 30 September, and an old printed list.
Is +91 the code for India?
No. +91 is the telephone country code. The form’s country field uses IN.
Does a non-resident leave the field blank?
No. The field takes the two-letter code of the country the form asks for. A person who is not resident in India does not type the country’s name in place of the code.
Is the form still due on 30 September?
No. From 31 March 2026 the intimation is Form DIR-3 KYC Web, due by 30 June of every third consecutive financial year. A change of mobile number, email, or residential address is filed within 30 days.
Does a printed list replace the standard?
No. The form uses ISO 3166-1 alpha-2. A country name that has changed since an older list was copied is entered under the code the standard now uses.
